Torbay native Allan Ricketts is a traditional musician playing a wide range of instruments. Allan plays traditional Newfoundland and Irish songs and tunes and has developed a deeply authentic approach to this tradition. His second CD “Rivers,” released in August 2009, was nominated four times through the NL Arts Council, ECMA and MusicNL. He has a busy few weeks coming up, starting today at Bridie Molloy’s with Larry Foley and Saturday at the Star of the Sea in Placentia with Foley. Then, as the newest member of the Eight Track Favourites, he’ll play pedal steel guitar with the band Monday, March 12 at the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre. He will play more pedal steel guitar April 20 at the Sheila Nageira Theatre in Carbonear with country artist James Dupré. Then in August, he’ll head to southeast Ireland as part of the Ireland Newfoundland Festival of the Sea. Just in time for Paddy’s Day, Ricketts offers “Paddy’s Green Shamrock Shore” at thetelegram.com. Click here to listen to the song.
