I agree, that Newfoundland music is it's own...and that the country feel a lot of the new stuff has is not what OUR music is. Newfoundland music is our own, why ruin it with American folk?

I grew up with the traditiona newfoundland music such as Let Me Fish of Cape St Mary's or Squid Jigging ground and heard many Irish songs. What was not part of my day were songs like Aunt Marta's sheep or songs by Wince amd Ellis Coles! Now while I don't think that I'm an elitest, I detest the country sond that is in Newfoundland Labrador music today!
