The Newman Sound Men’s Choir arrived in style at St. John’s International Airport Monday, singing and sporting their gold medals, as they came down the stairs to meet a large crowd of cheering fans. Newman Sound is based in St. John's, formed in 2005 by Kellie Walsh, Douglas Dunsmore and me. Kellie and I are artistic directors and we have a fabulous associate conductor, Jennifer Hart, who assists with conducting and direction. We recorded our debut CD "The Green and Salty Days" in 2010 which resulted in the MusicNL award for Classical Artist of the Year as well as an ECMA nomination. The album is a collection of folk songs from Newfoundland, across Canada and the UK. We perform several concerts every year to great audience support. Our 2012-2013 season gets underway in September with a new exciting performance schedule. For more information and to find out when and where we will be performing next, please visit www.newmansound.ca or join our Facebook page. Thanks everyone for your support and to The Telegram for your kind coverage. David Chafe Co-Artistic Director, Newman Sound Men's Choir
