Richard Neville is a singer/songwriter/guitarist who hails from the remote coastal community of Black Tickle, Labrador. Neville started singing and playing guitar at the age of 10. Influenced by local guitar players in the community, he started playing the tunes of Hank Snow, Hank Williams and Smiley Bates. Neville was strongly influenced by the music of Black Tickle and always credits his hometown for giving him a gift he truly loves. Being an avid radio listener, Richard soon started tapping into other genres of music, such as rock and blues, and, at the age of 14, formed his second band with four other friends. This band would soon be known as the Black Tickle Band, in which Richard was the lead guitar player and lead singer. In the fall of 2004, Richard and his family moved to Halifax, N.S., where he found himself living in a much larger centre with a vibrant music scene. While living In Halifax, Neville played in four different groups, accompanied singers/songwriters and performed as a solo artist for four years. In the fall of 2006, Neville was hired by an adventure tourism company based in Halifax called Polar Star Expeditions to join one of their cruise ships as a musical entertainer. While working on the ship, Neville performed his original music to people from all over the world in places like South America and Antarctica. In the fall of 2008, he returned to Goose Bay, where he and his family now reside. Neville is a frequent performer in the central Labrador area and occasionally travels to outside festivals and gigs. Neville recently released a full-length CD of his original songs recorded and produced in Halifax. Click here to listen to Richard Neville.
