After St. John's comedian Mark Critch spoke to the Telegram for our popular 20 Questions feature, we thought readers would appreciate hearing the interview themselves. After all, what made it into today's edition is a condensed version of the interview, and the printed word doesn't fully convey Critch's energy or the different voices and impressions he employs. So we present the full, unedited interview here, with all its ramblings and digressions intact.

But our online plan was almost dashed when the original recording could not be found, and Critch was unavailable to re-create the interview for us. So we hatched a new plan: Having someone fill in for Critch in the role of "Mark Critch" in the performance of "Mark Critch: The 20 Questions Interview."

But it couldn't be just anyone; it had to be someone who knows Critch well, knows what a Newfoundland upbringing is like, and someone who could perform the part of Mark Critch at a moment's notice. In the end there was really one option: Gordon Pinsent, who just finished work on the film “The Grand Seduction,” co-starring Critch. Pinsent, the consummate professional, quickly learned his lines and delivered a bravura performance. Then, wonder of wonders, we were able to locate the original interview after all, and present both Critch's original performance as himself, as well as Pinsent's take on the character, for your listening enjoyment. Hear Daniel MacEachern’s interview with Mark Critch HERE, and Gordon Pinsent’s take on Critch’s answers HERE.
