On the night of Oct. 14, 1942, the Caribou, a passenger ferry, was torpedoed by a German U-boat off Port aux Basques. 138 people perished, including Thomas Moyst, Jennifer Morgan's great-grandfather. Morgan has told the story in "Almost Home: The Sinking of the S.S. Caribou."
