The Tenors have launched a charitable project to go along with their upcoming visit to St. John’s, which will benefit the Health Care Foundation, the Community Food Sharing Association, and the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
The Tenors (formerly known as The Canadian Tenors) will perform at Mile One March 3 as part of a Canada-wide tour in support of their latest album, “Lead With Your Heart.”
In addition, the Tenors have created “Feed With Your Heart,” an initiative to support different charities and organizations in communities across the country, the majority of them food banks and hospitals.
There will be bins at the local performance to collect donations of non-perishable food items, which will be given for the Community Food Sharing Association for distribution at local food banks.
The Tenors are helping the Health Care Foundation and the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation by donating tickets to the concert in support of the upcoming Bust a Move for Breast Health event, to be held at the Newfoundland Sports Centre March 23.
“The Tenors recognize the importance of community involvement and social responsibility. They have inspired millions with their music and now with their philanthropic efforts,” promoter Paul Mercs Concerts said in a news release.
The Tenors, Clifton Murray, Victor Micallef, Remigio Pereira and Fraser Walters, visited St. John’s last fall for the launch of “Lead With Your Heart,” their first record in more than two years.
The album features classic songs, covers of Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young” and Elton John’s “Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word,” along with new compositions written and co-written by The Tenors.
A new block of tickets for the Mile One show were released last week. Ticket prices range from $52.50 to $105 (tax included, plus surcharge) and are available at the Mile One box office, by calling 576-7657, or online at www.mileonecentre.com.
