Spent 2 months in Ecuador back in 1987. Great place. Been back twice more, once for 2 weeks and another month which included the Galapogos. It is certainly a great place to visit and as the article mentions the country may be on the equator but the diversity due to elevation and other geography makes it an exciting place to visit. Swim in a lagoon with pink dolphins in the jungles of the Amazon Basin, climb Cotopaxi volcano, river raft, Galapagos, beaches with body temperature water, all kinds of culture and great things to buy. Absolutely no reason not to visit.

I am an Ecuadorian who has been living in St. John's, NL for over 5 years. Throughout my stay in Canada, I have always encouraged my friends and co-workers to do some research and discover the potential of Ecuador as a tourism destination; this article does great justice to one of the many wonders that this small, but vibrant country has to offer.
