If you didn't read Susan's piece, you wouldn't know about the white tailed prairie hare, or about the artwork or the Buddhist Temple (even that is news to me). Yes, the hares are big and they can be nasty, too. White in the winter and gray-brown in the summer, they are native wildlife and it's good to see them in the city all year 'round.

Why shouldn't there be a place for the kind of personal writing that Susan Flanagan does? Most of the stuff I read about is pretty serious and it should be, but it's nice to get a break from reading about war, corruption, murder (in our own city) etc etc etc. Also, if you don't think she's a "serious" journalist, I suggest you read her piece on Loblaws and their ghost stores around the city.

Right on ninja boy. I wish i could be paid for all stories of my exciting trips over the years and silly hares are not included.

Why do journalists now consider blogging their daily lives to be journalism? Who gives a hare's bum about your trip to Calgary? Think no one has been to Calgary? Oh you saw deer but no elk?? Fascinating.

Don't like it? Don't read it! I personally enjoy the humerous and insightful writing of Ms. Flanagan.
