Actor and comedian Shaun Majumder has announced the lineup for this year’s The Gathering festival in his hometown on the west coast this summer.
This will be the second year for The Gathering in Burlington, which Majumder has organized as part of his efforts to increase tourism in the tiny town of 350.
Headlining the three-day festival of music and food on Aug. 23-25, will be Blue Rodeo frontman Jim Cuddy and his sons, Devin and Sam, as The Jim Cuddy Family Band.
“Jim is a perfect fit for our project in Burlington,” Majumder said in a written statement.
“It was a long shot, but having had the pleasure to get to know him over the years, I had to ask, and thankfully he and his team said yes. In fact, I hear he’s bringing his mom.”
Other performers include Burlington native Rex Goudie, Brian Byrne of “I Mother Earth,” Carmen Townsend and local musicians like Adam Baxter, Mena Lodge and Nolan Newbury.
When it comes to the food, Sheraton Hotel St. John’s chef Roary MacPherson will lead a team including Mark McCrowe, Roger Andrews, Jillian Lake, Angie Ryan and Adam Blanchard in celebrating the province’s culinary arts.
Like last year, all profits from the festival will go to Majumder’s overall project, which includes a greenhouse, cabins and a eco-friendly lodge in Burlington. His project was the focus of “Majumder Manor,” a documentary series that debuted on W Network last season.
