“The Colours of Love,” an artist book containing five poems by Carmelita McGrath and Japanese woodblock prints by Charlotte Jones will be launched at the Christina Parker Gallery in St. John’s Saturday, March 29 from 3-5 p.m.

Author and musician Dan Rubin will launch his new novel “A Fire on the Sea” at the Arts and Culture Centre (AC Hunter Library, 3rd floor) on Wednesday night, April 16 at 7 p.m. The new book is an imaginative adventure story set on Canada’s west coast about a hundred years in the future.  The launch event will be a “story time” for adults and young readers. Join us and settle into a comfy chair, to be transported to a world of sailing ships, survival on a rocky coastline and communication with whales. This free event is sponsored by the library.  Copies of the new book will be available for signing by the author.


Please join us as we commemorate the Newfoundland sealing disaster with a presentation and a reading from Gary Collins, author of “Left to Die: The Story of the SS Newfoundland Sealing Disaster,” on Saturday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at the A. C. Hunter Public Library in the St. John’s Arts & Culture Centre.



Gary Collins will sign copies of “Left to Die” on Sunday, March 30 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Costco, noon to 2 p.m. at Chapters and from 2:30–4:30 p.m. at Coles, in the Avalon Mall.


Jenny Higgins will sign copies of “Perished: The 1914 Newfoundland Sealing Disaster,” on Saturday April 5 from 1-3 p.m. p.m. at Coles in the Avalon Mall and from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Chapters.


On WednesdayApril 2 at 7 p.m., the Library Book Club will discuss “The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry,” by Rachel Joyce at the A. C. Hunter Library. Everyone is invited. Coffee and tea are provided. For more information, phone 709-737-2133.
