While I cannot remember the details, over 30 years ago Gordon Lightfoot made disparaging remarks about Newfoundland. It was reported in the local media at which time many said on radio talk-shows that a boycott of his shows here would be an appropriate sanction. I have never heard he apologized for his bigoted act. And got that reason only, I shall not attend his Show in St John's subsequently. And moreover, though I like his singing, I have never bought any of his CD's.
