He made his debut with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra last year, and this month Gordon Pinsent will return for “A Lion Among the Ladies: Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with Mendelssohn’s incidental music, alongside the NSO and the Ladies of the Philharmonic Choir of the NSO.
Also on the program is Mendelssohn’s Concerto for Violin and Piano, D minor, featuring Duo Concertante — Nancy Dahn on violin and Timothy Steeves on piano.
Founded in 1962, the NSO is a 70-member semi-professional orchestra. Including the youth orchestra and philharmonic choir, the NSO family is the employer of professional musicians in the province.
Presented by Nalcor, the show will take place at the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre Nov. 15.
