Local company brings MacIvor play to St. John's stage

She’s the lead character in “You Are Here,” a play by Cape Breton playwright Daniel McIvor being produced by Engine Productions at the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre’s Barbara Barrett Theatre tonight until Saturday night.

Played by Kimberley Drake, Allison is looking for love, friendship and redemption. Other castmembers include Shawn Parsons, Rob Kean, Laura Huckle, Ross Moore, Issa Russell, Michael Rhodri Smith and Evan Mercer. The play is directed by Kevin Woolridge.

Engine Productions, founded three years ago by Drake, Huckle and Jenn Brown, is a self-described DIY theatre company, with the goal of allow artists to explore and share stories. Tickets for “You Are Here” are $20 in advance ($25 on the day of the show). A $10-matinée performance will happen Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office, at www.artsandculturecentre.ca or by calling 729-3900.
