St. John’s — The Newfoundland Symphony Youth Orchestra is officially launching its new program with a concert Sunday afternoon, called “Ghastly and Glorious.”
The concert, featuring Schubert’s “Symphony No. 8 (Unfinished)” and Saint-Saëns’ “Danse Macabre,” will be the premiere performance for the NYSO under the direction of duo Grant Etchegary and Jim Tranquilla.
Along with music by the entire NYSO, the orchestra’s brass, percussion, string and woodwind ensembles will perform, as will special guest ensemble, the Junior Strings Program, under the conduction of Chantelle Jubenville.
The concert will happen at MUN’s D. F. Cook Recital Hall at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $10 ($5 for children age 12 and under) and are available at the door.
