Peter MacDonald Productions offers new musical holiday show

Peter MacDonald insists his latest production was simply a “reason to sing and enjoy Christmas,” so it’s not his fault if audiences take home a heartwarming message at the same time.

Peter MacDonald Productions present “Santa’s Place,” a new, original holiday musical review for audiences of all ages at Holy Heart Theatre this week.

With a peppering of fun Christmas songs, the production follows a playful script written by MacDonald and features a cast of more than 60 performers, most of them children and youth.

“Everyone’s so busy on Christmas Eve, even in the North Pole, because there’s a lot to do,” MacDonald explains of the storyline.

“There are strict regulations and they all work together, but Santa’s son wants to spice up life a little bit, so he goes and grants some kids a wish and brings them to the North Pole.

:It’s totally unexpected and throws everything out of kilter.”

Things break down, things don’t get done and Christmas is in danger — until the children step in and save it.

“In the end, it’s realized that we have to take a breath when we do Christmas and children make Christmas special,” MacDonald said.

With a cast that includes Cassandra McCarthy, Kara Noftle, Emily McKim and Kade Bailey, as well as Kyle McDavid as Jack Frost, Ronalda Hutton MacDonald as Mrs. Claus and MacDonald as the big man in red, “Santa’s Place” opens tonight and will run until Saturday night, with a 3 p.m. matinée on Saturday.

Tickets are $30 regular admission and $28 for children 12 years and under, and are available at the Holy Heart box office, by calling 579-4424 or online at www.holyhearttheatre.com.
