Emily Bridger, Latonia Hartery and Deanne Foley have created a blog to coincide with their upcoming film, “Sadie,” a thriller set in 1940s rural Newfoundland about a teenage girl dealing with the death of both her parents. Bridger wrote the screenplay, while Hartery is directing and Foley is producing.

“The blog will track the making of ‘Sadie,’ highlight the work of creative women, and address the challenges we all face,” Hartery said in a written statement.

“There is a positive trend in the industry of women supporting women when they get into the writer-director-producer roles. Our film features a cast of 60 per cent females and has other key production spots filled by women. We’re delighted to be in a position to

be able to create these opportunities.”

“It’s great to be diversifying and to be working with a capable team of women,” Foley added.

“As females make more movies, we step forward in a world where our perspective is further incorporated.”

The blog, which will also feature screenwriting tips from Bridger, can be viewed at

Yay, gender issues! Most of the producers in this town are women. We've had a women's film festival longer than we've had a film festival. Your film has 60% cast of women and "other key production spots filled by women" I don't see this as relevant or anything other than divisive.
