not sure why we are complaining about having great choices for the summer concerts. Bring it all on and give people an alternate to having to travel to GFW and find accomodations to see great music. The fact that its the same weekend I would think has more to do with Rod's schedule but hey even so. I appreciate the chance to take in a concert that weekend when most of my fellow concert goers are out of town. Journey, Rod, and GFW I don't think its looking like a bad summer so far in my books.

Someone once said that Rod Stewart is the Charlie Pride of pop/rock. I believe it.

I just hope the batteries in his Karaeko machine don't fell....or that it rains and his make up runs.

Can you name one song that Rod Stewart has written in the last 25 years? Thought so. His shows are nothing more than a Karaoke at its finest. Throw him a guitar when he comes and see if knows what to do with it.

It will come in time. Blue Rodeo is the only other confirmed band so far.

Unlike Salmon Festival, the City of St. John's do not organize these events, it is a private business who acts in the interest of their customers. Unlike the Salmon Fest which IS organized by the Town and who acts with no regard for their customers. Just look at the past two years and considering the majority of customers come from the Avalon a business person saslw an opportunity and Seized upon it. It is about time the organizers of Salmon Fest were held accountable for the way they treated concert goers. They are reaping what they sowed. Bring on Rod.

SAD THAT ST.JOHN'S HAS STUPPED SO LOW IN HAVING THIS CONCERT THE SAME DAY AS THE SALMONFEST. SHAME ON THEM!!!

Isn't competition great? Now if only the foolish Canadian taxpayer would do the same when it comes to CBC?

Little does anyone know that St. John's isn't a concert promoter and had just as much to do with it as me or you.

Yeah Paula....where do you get off saying "St. John's" is lowballing this? This is a private concert producer, so please learn a bit before you spew at the mouth. Why don't you blame the Avalon Peninsula? I for one, have never gone to any concert in GFW, as it is just too much...travel, some kind of lodging if you can get it, huge crowds, heat, lack of water, and the list goes on. So, this will be delightful to see an alternative. I saw Ron Stewart when he was here on Aug 13 of 1989 and it was magical. So I hope this would become an annual event for the good people of the Avalon Peninsula. I am sure that if GWF has a good enough headliner, they will bring the people accordingly. So don't get sooky because some private entrepreneur is cashing in on an opportunity that logistically has nothing to do with the good folks in St. John's.

So true Paula. Don't worry though, GFW have been doing this for 30 years and St. John's, Mt. Pearl and Bay Roberts have tried before and failed. Just wait till the Elitest residing around the conferation building start complaining....this is going to fun to watch. They've started already.
