evenko and Live Nation will present "An Evening With James Taylor and His All-Star Band" live at Mile One Centre in St. John's, May 20, as part of a North American tour, including 15 Canadian cities.

The shows will include material from his latest album "Before This World," the legendary singer/songwriter's first album of new songs since his platinum-selling "October Road" in 2002.

The album features 10 songs, nine of which are brand new James Taylor compositions.  A news release says the album, produced by Grammy Award®-winner Dave O'Donnell, offers heartfelt reflections and insight from a life well-lived such as the album's opening track 'Today, Today, Today,' which The Wall Street Journal described as 'trademark Taylor: elegant, tuneful and just a little wry.'"

Other album highlights include "Stretch of the Highway" and "Angels of Fenway," a song about the redemptive spirit of baseball, which Taylor debuted at Fenway Park in Boston.

On "Before This World," Taylor continues to explore many of the themes that have absorbed him throughout his career. "My sort of self-expression and the autobiographical aspect of my work is a thru-line that links all my albums together," he said. "I think I have grown musically, and I think people can hear it in what I played in '68, and you can hear it in what I'm singing about now. It is ongoing, it's still me, but it's still evolving."

Taylor's Atlantic Canada shows are scheduled for:

May 15 – Harbour Station – Saint John, N.B.;

May 16 – Credit Union Place – Summerside, P.E.I.;

May 17 - Scotiabank Centre - Halifax, N.S.;

May 20 – Mile One Centre – St. John’s;

Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m.

Tickets for the St. John’s show range from $97.25 – 134.00 (including tax and applicable surcharge) and will be available at the Mile One Centre box office, by calling (709) 576-7657 and online at mileonecentre.com, evenko.ca and livenation.com.

The shows are reserved seating and open to all ages. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and shows start at 8:30 p.m.

    Carly Simon, Yes! James Taylor? Really?! A hundred bucks to hear someone whine...and this gets some people excited?! St. John's needs/wants better.

      Yes Geoff, I am excite to see him and truly looking forward to it. I am sorry that you do not enjoy his music but that is your opinion and yo are entitled to it. If want to see just how many people are excited just watch and see how quickly the shows sell out. As with many of your earlier posts we can now see why you did so well at election time. Closed minded and only for yourself.

    JT is actually playing 2 shows- May 20th & 21st. Saw him play in Ottawa about 20 years ago. Great show. Worth every penny.

      Back in the 80's, I used to go to every concert that came here. Tickets were always $8.50. Although $8.50 was worth more then, than now, it doesn't translate into $97 and $134. Tickets should only be $20 or $25

    Would love to see him, but not at $97-134. Where do they get their prices????

      If you went online and checked the prices for his concerts at other venues, the prices for St.John's are actually a bargain. For example, his sold out show later this summer at Fenway Park in Boston has a top ticket price of $130 US which is approximately $170 CND.

      As long as people pay the high price, they will charge the high price. Not me.

      "Say What" must be an entertainer also, approving such ridiculous prices. $20. is enough to pay for a night's entertainment.

      He is playing Fenway Park with Jackson Brown in August and the tickets at field level are selling for $695.00 (USD). They are sold out! We are getting a bargain and a more intimate venue.
