Whitbourne Lions Club hosts its monthly afternoon of fun and fabulous old time country music on the first Sunday of each month and this month's open mic will be held today at the Lions Club in Whitbourne. The doors open at 1 p.m. and the excitement starts at 2 p.m. Join the performers on stage at the open mic or bring your instrument and play along or just tap your feet to that great old country beat. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 56, Pleasantville will hold its monthly senior's night beginning at 8 p.m. with bingo. A dance will follow with music this month by Reg House. Soup will be served at 10:30 p.m. All welcome. Come and bring your friends.

The NL Section of the Canadian Institute of Forestry/l'institute Forestier du Canada will hold a mini-forum entitled Non-Timber Forest Products in Newfoundland and Labrador, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Forest Ecology Centre (immediately East of the Agriculture Station on Brookfield Road). Presenters are Krista Head, natural resources development officer with DNR and Sean Dolter, general manager of the model forest of Newfoundland and Labrador. All are welcome.
