The 2010 Atlantic Book Awards & Festival has begun in Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia.
The nine-day festival is expected to see writers, publishers, illustrators and readers celebrate local literature.
Events in St. John's include poetry readings and book signings at local bookstores.
Events and workshops are also planned for Bedford, Halifax and Dartmouth, N.S.
