With more than 600 volunteers and three days jam-packed with events, the Ruckus on the Edge appears ready to get St. John's music lovers ready for the official Juno celebrations this week.
The Ruckus begins at noon today at the Confederation Building, and won't slack off until April 15. Here's what's on today:
Official Launch: noon-1 p.m. at The Confederation Building
Random Acts of Music: noon-2 p.m. Local musicians in performance in St. John's and Mount Pearl.
Atlantic Place: 12-1 p.m. Andrew O'Brien; 1-2 p.m. Billy Sutton
Delta Hotel: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Jim Payne and Fergus O'Byrne;
Sheraton Hotel: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Mary Barry
Colemans (Mount Pearl): 1-2 p.m. Allan Ricketts
Colemans (Merrymeeting Road): 1-2 p.m. Fergus Brown O'Byrne
Holiday Inn: 1-2 p.m. Sharona Clarke
Gospel Night: 8-10 p.m. at Cochrane Street United Church. Tickets $15. Performers include Gary French, Dan Bursey, Wendy Woodland, Mark House and David Chafe.
Classical Composer Showcase: 8-10 p.m. at Petro Canada Music Hall. Tickets $15. Featuring Juno Award-nominated classical compositions performed by chamber musicians from St. John's and the surrounding areas, including Duo Concertante, Ora Ensemble, MUN Chamber Choir, Jane Leibel, Karen Bulmer and Maureen Volk.
