Nominated for her album "Hunter, Hunter," Amelia Curran has added the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival to her list of upcoming events.
Rose Cousins will also play at the St. John's event.
"The Folk Arts Society is delighted to have these two extraordinary women at our festival," said president of the Folks Arts Society, Anita Best.
"Their beautiful voices and intelligent lyrics are setting a new standard for young women songmakers in this country. They are following the trail that amazing songwriters like Pamela Morgan and Rose Vaughn blazed in the past few decades."
Acts already announced for the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival include The Wonderful Grand Band, Ennis, David Francey, Archie Fisher and Old Ma Luedecke.
The festival is scheduled for Aug. 6-8. According to organizers, tickets can be purchased now through the Holy Heart Theatre box office (709-579-4424) or online at www.admitix.ca.
Meanwhile, during Juno Awards week, Curran will play at the Martini Bar (312 Water St.) as part of JunoFest today at midnight. She will follow Madison Violet. Curran will also play in the Songwriters' Circle this Sunday at the Arts and Culture Centre.
