Hey Rosetta! have added a St. John's date to their summer tour schedule. The band is set to play the mainstage at the 34th Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival on Aug. 6.
According to a release from the festival, the band will "debut some brand new material." Then it's up and off to China the following morning to perform at the Canadian Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo.
The 34th Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival is scheduled for Aug. 6 to Aug. 8 at Bannerman Park in St. John's. In addition to Hey Rosetta!, announced performers are: Amelia Curran, Archie Fisher, David Francey, Ennis, Old Man Luedecke, The Irish Descendants, Waterson Carthy and The Wonderful Grand Band. Tickets for the folk festival now available at the Holy Heart Theatre box office or online at www.admitix.ca.
Aside from their August date in St. John's, Hey Rosetta! is also set to perform another two gigs on the island this summer, at the Woody Point Heritage Theatre on July 28 and July 29.

This is a headline? Come on.........they play here 8 times a year at Club One. They do have a big crop of male groupies that do follow them, but the Irish Descendants would be a bigger draw as a headliner.

Hey Rosetta would have trouble selling out Twin Rinks. If they were so good they'd play Mile One, solo.

Now I finally have a reason to go the folk festival for the first time. Hey! Rosetta are not only one of the best bands out of the province, but they are one of the best new bands in all of music.
The times at the folk festival really are a changin;' and about time I say!

I think Hey Rosetta has played Club One a total of three times since they started in 2005. Silly.
    This will be good.
