A forest fire that started this morning has consumed more than five square kilometres on the north side of CFB Goose Bay has been brought under control.

No structures were damaged during the fire and no one was injured. Three helicopters and two water bombers had battled the blaze in the air while, Goose Bay and CFB fire stations battle the spreading fire on the ground.

The RCMP removed the roadblocks just before sunset and traffic is moving normally through the area.

Fascinating photographs, it's 20 years since I was stationed at RAF(U) Goose Bay. I notice from the tag at the bottom of the pictures that Goose Bay, Hamilton River road now appears to have been relocated to the island of Newfoundland! Has it really moved or has Labrador been "absorbed/moved". Al Cooper, UKGB.
