Neighbors said it sounded like an 18-wheeler going through a building.

The front addition to the main hall was blown 40 inches forward off the foundation.

The explosion happened shortly after 12 a.m. on the morning of Oct 26. The Port aux Basques Volunteer Fire Department responded and had any flames out within five minutes, according to Fire Chief Jerry Musseau.

Residents of some nearby buildings were evacuated temporarily.
