Just listen to this guy: "Me, me, me". Most politicians interested in a high-level leadership position will at least pretend to have some sort of vision or ideas. This guy Simms is straight-up admitting that he's only in it for himself. Take a hike, pal. Liberals, keep looking.

The Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador is desperate and has drained the talent pool dry. Perhaps Scott Simms can forecast (pardon the pun) the economic future of the Province better than anyone else. Perhaps he can perform a great impersonation of Joey Smallwood or Brian Tobin! Perhaps he has the huge ego that is required to be a Premier of Newfoundland! What real qualifications does Mr. Simms possess that makes him suitable to be the Premier of Newfoundland? I look forward to watching Mr. Simms perform after he has announced his intention to return from Ottawa where he is an obscure and barely visible member of the unofficial opposition to save the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Province itself! Been there, seen that! Look out, we may be in for a repeat of the purge and binge of the Tobin glory days! All that is required is to dole out the patronage, throw around lots of non repayable Grants, fire public servants that the PC's hired or appointed, give out lots of contracts to political cronies, expropriate some land from a company or citizen that some lobbyist wants for his own project, announce that you are building a bridge from Port aux Basques to North Sydney and away you go!

I have a name that both Scott Simms and Gerry Byrne need to remember: Don Jamieson. Don came back to lead the provincial Liberals from a very successful career in Ottawa, only to have it all go down in flames very shortly after taking the job.

simms got enough time in now to collect that fat pension, so he is not worried about anything but himself. he flip-floped on the gun registry puting his own selfish liberal party ahead of the people he his suppose to represent. its time for him to move on federally and join his other circus.

The province is going down the tubes. We have the worst premier in the history of confederation, and this is the best we can do. At one time I actually thought the Liberals had a fighting chance to win the next election. Since then, they've chased away Dean MacDonald, and are now scraping the bottom of the barrel for Scott Simms. The NDP are starting to look like an option.

2013 marks 10 years since the Roger Grimes Liberals lost the provincial election. They have yet to pay off the election debt from 2003. Ten years later and still in financial chaos. Why would Scott Simms give up a $165 thousand a year job to come back and take over that financial mess? It costs just over a million bucks to run a serious provincial campaign and the Liberals have less than 2 years to raise that in addition to their current debt problems.

Stay where you are Simms, you just don't have enough of what it takes to win the leadership of the province !!!
