IVERNESS COUNTY, N.S. - Thanks to a private donation, 120 hectares acres of natural coastal land in Nova Scotia is being preserved.

The Nova Scotia Nature Trust announced today the Mackenzie Cove property on Bras d'Or Lake in Iverness County, Cape Breton, would receive permanent protection.

A release says Dan Livingston gifted the property to the Nature Trust in order to keep the land undeveloped and wild.

The property has over seven kilometres of shoreline and is home to numerous ecosystems.

Livingston says Mackenzie Cove, which was originally his father's, is beautiful and full of memories.

The Nature Trust says because more than 85 per cent of coastal land is privately owned, most of it gets developed.
