ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - It will be a couple of days before operations resume aboard an offshore drilling rig off the coast of Newfoundland.

Safety officers are trying to determine why a hydraulic cylinder was dropped aboard the Henry Goodrich on Thursday.

No one was injured.

However, work was suspended after the accident, which officials are calling a "near miss."

There is no immediate word on how big the cylinder is, or the circumstances surrounding what happened.

The rig's operator, Husky Energy (TSX:HSE), says it is working to improve safety.
