SHEDIAC CAPE, N.B. - A New Brunswick teenager is dead and two others remain in hospital after a car crash in Shediac Cape, near Moncton, on Saturday afternoon.

Police say it appears the 18-year-old male driver lost control of the car just before 3 p.m. and it left the road, hitting a tree and hydro pole before catching fire.

Witnesses came to the aid of two 18-year-old passengers who sustained serious injuries.

The driver from nearby Grande-Digue, N.B., died at the scene.

No names have been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
