QUESNEL, B.C. - A 68-year-old woman has been arrested in Quesnel, B.C., for allegedly trying to abduct a seven-year-old boy.

RCMP credit the quick actions of a 13-year-old girl for stopping the abduction.

Police say the boy was at a public gathering in the community's Spirit Square on Thursday night when the woman grabbed his wrist and attempted to pull him towards her nearby vehicle.

The girl, who knew the boy, saw what was going on and began pulling him away from the woman.

The suspect left the scene in her vehicle, but police were able to arrest her within minutes.

The woman wasn't know to the child or his family and police say it appears to be an isolated incident.
