TRURO, N.S. - A Nova Scotia man has been sentenced to 41 months in prison after leaving the scene of an accident that left a young woman paralyzed from the waist down.

Ryan Harvey McLellan of Economy was sentenced Thursday in provincial court in Truro.

He was charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident.

In the early morning hours of Jan. 1, 24-year-old Holly Grue of Bass River was walking along Highway 2 in Economy when she was hit by a vehicle driven by McLellan.

The 26-year-old also pleaded guilty to a number of other charges related to a police chase in Truro in August.
