VANCOUVER - Emergency officials in British Columbia's Cariboo region are asking about 40 people living in more than a dozen homes to evacuate because of a wildfire.
The Ministry of Forests says the wildfire is about 50 hectares in size and is burning about 40 kilometres west of Clinton, B.C., which is halfway between Prince George and Vancouver.
The ministry says two structures have been "involved" by the fire but no other buildings are under immediate threat.
Fire information officer Jenny Fremlin says the evacuees are being asked to gather at a community centre in Clinton.
The ministry says air tankers, two helicopters, heavy equipment and as many as 42 firefighters are battling the blaze.
There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
