MIDALE, Sask. - An 18-year-old worker from New Brunswick is dead after being hit by an SUV in a construction zone in Saskatchewan.

RCMP say the woman was working as a flag person on a highway when she was hit Friday near Midale, southeast of Weyburn.

The woman, who has not been named, was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is scheduled for this week in Regina.

The driver of the SUV, a 44-year-old man, was taken into custody but has since been released.

RCMP say charges have not been laid, but are pending.
