VANCOUVER - A British Columbia teenager who posted a gut-wrenching video to YouTube of her treatment at the hands of relentless bullies has killed herself.

Her death has prompted an outpouring of condolences on social media and premier Christy Clark has posted her own video decrying bullying.

Amanda Todd posted a black and white, nine-minute video Sept. 7 in which she doesn't speak, but leafs through dozens of white pieces of paper with brief sentences in black marker.

The teen explains that as a Grade 7 student, she was lured by an unidentified male to expose her breasts via webcam and the picture was used over and over to torment her on social media.

The notes say she changed schools to escape the bullies, but the taunts followed her and she was physically attacked by classmates, plunged into depression and alcohol and drug abuse and eventually attempted to kill herself twice.

RCMP in Coquitlam, B.C., confirm they are aware of Todd's death Wednesday night.
