TORONTO - Olympic gold medallist Andy Murray is still set to play in the Rogers Cup.
Just hours after Murray won tennis gold for Great Britain with a straight sets victory over Roger Federer on Sunday, tournament director Karl Hale said he had been in touch with Murray's team and confirmed that the No. 2 seed will indeed arrive in Toronto in the coming days.
Hale added that defending champion and No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic, who lost in the bronze medal match to Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina earlier in the day, will also play at the Rogers Cup.
Both Murray and Djokovic have byes into the second round.
Federer, the world's No. 1 ranked player, pulled out of the tournament on Friday, a day after world No. 3 Rafael Nadal withdrew, saying he needs more time to recover from injury.
Murray is scheduled to play a qualifier in his opener, while Djokovic will play either Australia's Bernard Tomic or a qualifier in his first match.
If Murray wins his first match, he could face Milos Raonic of Thornhill, Ont., in the third round.
