OTTAWA - Ottawa says it is reviewing its code of conduct for credit cards to adapt it for smartphone payments.

The review is aimed at facilitating the development of technology that will allow Canadians to make credit and debit payments electronically through their smartphones.

Minister of State for Finance Ted Menzies says Canadians will have 60 days to post their views and comments.

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business welcomes today's announcement.

The group says the review will help make the code of conduct even more relevant and useful to small business owners.
