TORONTO - Phoenix, Girl Talk and Hot Chip will headline a new boutique music festival in Ontario's scenic Niagara-on-the-Lake, which is launching this summer as a partnership between influential indie imprint Arts & Crafts and powerhouse promoter Goldenvoice.

The inaugural edition of the Grove Music Festival will be held Aug. 3.

Also included in the lineup are hip-hop upstarts Macklemore and Ryan Lewis — whose cheeky "Thrift Shop" sits atop the Canadian Billboard singles chart — as well as New Jersey rockers Gaslight Anthem, venerable punk hero Bob Mould and dexterous Odd Future rapper Earl Sweatshirt.

British garage-rockers Palma Violets, San Diego's Wavves and promising Swedish duo Icona Pop will also perform.

The performances will be held on alternate stages with promoters promising that the sets won't overlap.

Goldenvoice is the AEG-owned concert giant that operates the annual Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, while Arts & Crafts has been home to the likes of Broken Social Scene, Feist and Dan Mangan.

"After last year's successful the Tragically Hip show at Butler's Barracks in Niagara-on-the-Lake, I am so excited to bring back some more music to the area," said Goldenvoice vice-president Elliott Lefko.

"The Grove Music Festival will fit well with all the other cultural events happening in the area."

Added Arts & Crafts co-founder Jeffrey Remedios: "Music festivals are a special, sacred experience. People coming together around the shared love of music. Niagara-on-the-Lake is the perfect setting for this magic to take place."

Early-bird tickets go on sale Tuesday for roughly $85 including fees, while general admission tickets will be available Friday for about $95. VIP passes are also available.
