A Canadian Forces Cormorant helicopter from 103 Search and Rescue Squadron in Gander is currently looking for a plane in the Robin Hood Bay area north of St. John’s that a person on the ground apparently witnessed crash.
Canadian Coast Guard vessels are also involved in the search.
Capt. Paul Hamlyn of 103 SAR at 9 Wing Gander said there was no mayday received and air traffic control at St. John's International Airport has accounted for all air traffic in the area.
The witness called 911.
