The west coast of the island is cleaning up after tropical storm Earl tore through the area Saturday night.
Environment Canada officials are saying the worst is over and that the storm is continuing to lose power as it heads north off Mary’s Harbour.
Some areas of the west coast lost power and Newfoundland Power crews are currently working to get electric service restored.
But the majority of the mess left by Earl was downed trees.
City of Corner Brook workers were out all night cutting up trees, including one 75-year-old tree that toppled around 1:30 a.m.
According to one worker on the scene this was just one of many trees to feel the wrath of Hurricane Earl overnight.
Trees along Montgomery Street were torn out by the root, according to the worker.
Areas including Port Saunders and the Straits are still under a wind warning, with 100 kilometre an hour gusts expected, but the tropical storm warnings there have been lifted as well.
