The body of Ann Marie Shirran has been identified as the remains found in the woods near the community of Cappahayden.
In a news release sent out Sunday evening, the RNC said that foul play is suspected, and that the scene is being processed by the Forensic Identification Section.
Shirran went missing on July 18 from her St. John’s home.
Since then, police have conducted an extensive search for the 32-year-old woman, focusing in an area around her home near Bay Bulls Road, and an area in the woods off Blackhead Road.

On Thursday, campers found the body in the woods off Route 10 near Cappahayden.
The discovery immediately triggered speculation that it might be Shirran.
The investigation by the RNC is continuing, aided by forensic anthropologists from Memorial University, as well as the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
