States of emergency still exist in 16 towns on the eastern part of Newfoundland hardest hit by Hurricane Igor this week.

According to the RCMP this morning, the 16 towns are South West Arm, Glovertown, Sandringham, King’s Cove, Bonavista, Elliston, Clarenville, Come By Chance, Torbay, Long Harbour, St. Lawrence, Lawn, Terrenceville, SunnySide, Port Blanford, Terra Nova and Gambo.

There are depleted food stocks in Grand Bank, Marystown, Catalina and Port Rexton, according to the police information.

Meanwhile, the provincial Department of Transportation is advising that the Rattle Brook Bridge reopened last night as a single-lane bridge with traffic lights.

Drivers are advised to be cautious when using the bridge.

As well, the department is advising that the Long Pond Bridge is still closed to vehicle traffic and is accessible to pedestrians only.

More updates will come from the department as the day goes on.

My hometown, Little Catalina, in my opinion is still also a state of emergency. The town has no water, residents are isolated due to destroyed bridges, there is no gas, shortage of food is not unexpected, there is no access to emergency services and the children there are unable to go to school. Seems to me, all other communities are noted except my home town. Please do not forget the residents of this little community!!
