Police say a man was attacked with bear spray Friday night in St. John’s.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary reports that a 36-year-old man was walking along Pennywell Road at about 7:45 p.m. when he “brushed up” against another man walking in the opposite direction. Police say the two “exchanged words” before the second man sprayed the 36-year-old man with bear spray, and then ran from the area. Police searched the area with a K9 unit but the suspect was not found.
