RCMP in Holyrood are investigating a vehicle-moose collision that occurred Saturday on the Trans-Canada Highway, three kilometres west of the Veteran Memorial Highway intersection.
The vehicle was traveling west when it struck a moose and left the road. Two occupants, a 20-year-old male driver and 19-year-old female passenger, received non-lifethreatening injuries. Both had to be extracted from the vehicle and transported to hospital.
The moose was destroyed.
Meanwhile, Holyrood RCMP are also investigating a car fire that occurred around 1 a.m. today at the intersection of the Salmonier Line and St. Joseph’s turnoff.
Witnesses found the parked vehicle on fire and called the St. Joseph fire department.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Police say arson is suspected and they are seeking the assistance of public. If anyone has any information concerning the fire, they are encouraged to contact any detachment of the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
