A group of cadets, a cadet instructor and a bus driver all escaped without serious injury Friday afternoon when the bus they were on slid off the highway and toppled onto its side.
Fifteen cadets from the 3065 Royal Canadian Army Cadet corps in English Harbour were on their way to Hermitage for sports activities when the driver of the long, yellow school bus they were riding reportedly hit black ice.
A public affairs officer with the cadets in Atlantic Canada, Doug Keirstead, told The Telegram three cadets, ages anywhere from 12 to 18, and the bus driver received minor injuries in the accident. They were taken to hospital in Hermitage.
"They were all treated and released," Keirstead said, adding most have continued on with their planned weekend activities.
