An accident at the dockyard in St. John’s has sent one man to hospital, to be treated for injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

Emergency personnel from the St. John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD), Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and Eastern Health — were called in following the accident, that occurred just before 11:30 a.m.

“The only thing I could say is that they were doing some industrial work at the docking facility. They were doing some repair work at the docking facility and they had a mishap,” said Capt. Rennie Perrin of the SJRFD.

Perrin said the male victim, in his mid-30s, was taken to St. Clare's Mercy Hospital.

“I think he hand an injury to the hand,” Perrin said. “When we were down there, the person was conscious and he was talking to (paramedics).”

Personnel from Occupational, Health and Safety are investigating the mishap.
