HALIFAX — More than 200 passengers were ordered off an Air Canada flight in Halifax on Tuesday after a traveller reported overhearing two men talk about an explosive.
RCMP Cpl. Scott MacRae said the flight, headed for London, England, was delayed about two hours while officers and an RCMP dog trained to detect explosives searched the plane.
No explosives were found.
MacRae said officers were called to the Halifax Stanfield International Airport just after midnight by airport security.
He said the RCMP determined there wasn’t any validity to what another passenger thought they overheard in the conversation, which wasn’t in English.
“Somebody who thought they knew that language thought they heard something and that led to the investigation,” MacRae said.
He said officers “identified two people of interest (who) were questioned and released.”
