The sister of a Newfoundland woman who vanished 18 days ago in Saskatchewan says she is feeling frustrated that the RCMP are keeping her out of the loop on their investigation.

Carol King, who moved to the Prairies from the East Coast three years ago, disappeared near Herschel, Sask., on Aug. 6.

Her car was found in a slough and a friend says she was on her way to file a report with police about being harassed.

An extensive search was conducted but so far authorities say the investigation has turned up no new information.

Brenda King of Nova Scotia says she calls the police to find out what is going on but they have nothing to tell her.

She’d like to know the details of why the RCMP have termed her sister’s disappearance suspicious and whether they have any suspects.

She says she knows the police have to do things a certain way, but says she deserves an explanation.

Shann Minish, a friend of Carol King’s, agrees the family should know more but understand the need for caution about making that information public.

“If they released every bit of information it might compromise the investigation,” said Minish.

Mounties brought in specially trained cadaver dogs to look for King this week, but the search turned up nothing.
