Moncton, N.B. — The case of a man from Newfoundland and Labrador who is accused of murdering a notorious cult leader in a New Brunswick prison has been delayed.

Matthew Gerrard MacDonald of Port au Port appeared in provincial court today in Moncton, N.B.

The 60-year-old told the court he is still trying to find a lawyer through legal aid.

The case was adjourned until Sept. 29.

MacDonald is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Roch (Moses) Theriault at the penitentiary in Dorchester on Feb. 26.

MacDonald is serving time for two other deaths and is being held at the maximum-security prison in Renous, N.B.
