CROWSNEST PASS, Alta. — The RCMP say accused kidnapper Randall Hopley has been captured.

Police have named Hopley as the sole suspect in the disappearance of three-year-old Kienan Hebert, who police have said was taken from his home in Sparwood, B.C., last week and mysteriously returned on Sunday.

RCMP Cpl. Annie Linteau confirms Hopley has been arrested, but had no further details.

A news conference is scheduled in Sparwood later today.

Kienan’s disappearance prompted a massive search around his home and an Amber Alert that stretched for days, which was eventually expanded into Alberta.

Hopley, who is 46, is a convicted sex offender with a number of convictions in the past two decades that also include break-and-enter and assault.

Send the bastard to a Canadian Maximum Security Prison for six months awaiting a Court date. I can guarantee you he will come out a different person ! The system will probally say...oh, he needs rehabilation ! He needs to be castrated ! We are not dealing with these situations to protect these young children against sicko's. Hey, let's bring back Charles Bronson...he would know what to do ! We have become a Nation of softies, too stuck into a complacent society that will not deal with the harsh reality of dealing more effectively with these perverts.

Time for the justice system to do what we as citizens expect it to do; Protect us from this sort of person. I am sure there will be many bleeding hearts comment here that the man needs help and we need to start trying to make a safe place to assist him with reabilitation. I agree this man is sick, but that does not negate the fact that society needs to be protected from people like him. He has a long record and shows that he is willing to prey on our most innocent. That says it all for me. Time to lock him away. Until people like this are we cannot expect our neighborhoods to be safe places. Worrying about his need for reabilitation will not protect us. It is high time that we started to make this a very big issue with our elected reps. All to often we see cases where criminals and predators are released back into society only to re-offend. Time for it to stop. We need to start pushing for longer sentences for repeat offenders. Those that have many convictions have clearly displayed that they do not have the ability, intellect, willingness or desire to function in a modern society with reasosnable controls and laws. Any more chances to take the right path should not be given. The dangerous offender designation needs to be used and the door permanently locked.

  It's interesting that he was caught in Crowsnest AB because it's right next door to Coleman AB which is the place that Kienan's mother has listed as her place of residence/business on her facebook page. Coincidence??????????????
